“Fish [Donghae], Dolphin [Junsu], Duck [Leeteuk], Cat [Heechul], Anchovy [Eunhyuk], Appa yah [Kangin], Yesung ♥, who I only become even closer to as the years go by. Thanks to you, I always feel secure.”
Next year, 2013, Heechul’s coming back and Yesung’s gonna enlist.
The year after, 2014, Shindong and Sungmin are gonna enlist while Leeteuk’s coming back. Just to clear up any confusion, I know that Sungmin is in the 86 line and that he’s not supposed to enlist until the following year, but Sungmin was born before March 1986, which technically makes him part of the 85 line (in Korea, anyway).
In 2015, Yesung is coming back while Eunhyuk, Siwon and Donghae are going to enlist. Although Siwon’s registered birth date is in 1987 (and his real birth year being in 1986), either way, he’s in the 86 line, thus having to enlist along with Eunhyuk and Donghae.
In 2016, Shindong and Sungmin are coming back while Ryeowook, Kibum and Kyuhyun are going to enlist. Much like Sungmin, Kyuhyun has an early birthday, making him the same age as Ryeowook and Kibum (again, in Korea only). Because of all the injuries he’s sustained in the past, Kyuhyun is probably only going to receive one month of training and afterwards, become a public service worker, like Heechul. Ryeowook, Kibum and Kyuhyun will be back two years after, in 2018.
2016 is the last year in which a Super Junior member is going to enlist. They’re going to be all together once again in the year 2018. ♥
I, being the loyal ELF I am, had impatiently waited for this album to come out. And once it did, I immediately downloaded it and saved it on my iPhone to listen to as I sleep. Actually, it wasn’t even available yet on any non-Korean downloading sites so I just merely took the audio from YouTube videos and saved it.
And I must say, I am far from disappointed with this album. At first, I had my doubts. I kept wondering how on earth they were going to fit the phrase, ‘Sexy, Free and Single’ in a song. I expected them to repeat it a few several times since Suju is known for doing that. Don’t believe me? Well, let me take you back to their past singles:
Sorry sorry sorry sorry
Bonamana bonamana bonamana
Bwara Mr. Simple, simple
Of course, when I heard the teaser, my faith was immediately restored. I don’t know if I’m just a really huge ELF but I became really excited after the teaser came out. I was like, ‘Oh my God, they look so hot!’ and ‘Oh my God, this is so cool!’ and ‘Oh my God, Kangin’s back!’. I could not stop replaying it.
And later on, when the full song came out, I was a bit disappointed. I expected to hear more clapping, just like the teaser provided. But nevertheless, I fell in love with the song anyway, along with all the other songs.
My favorites have got to be the following (in no particular order):
Like any other person, I have my share of likes and dislikes about this album.
1. Line Distribution
I like the fact that I hear a lot of Eunhyuk, Donghae and Sungmin’s vocals in 6jib. (86 line for the win!) I especially noticed that Sungmin can be heard a lot in the album and my, my, he surely did not disappoint. I’m especially in love with his voice in ‘Daydream’.
But unfortunately, I don’t hear a lot of Leeteuk and Siwon in the album. Of course, I can understand Siwon’s situation. He’s travelling back and forth from China a lot lately; it’s even preventing him from participating in album promotions. And I wish I could have heard more from Leeteuk. After all, this is his last album before he enlists.
Okay, so I adored their teaser photos, even if it is unrelated to their actual concept. Even my mom was impressed with the photography. I have to admit, I didn’t really like the last album’s teaser photos; they were too…far-out for me. But still, I enjoyed them. But I love the 6jib teasers more.
As we all know, they covered Eunhyuk’s eyes once again. – sigh – But I don’t really have much to complain about because he still looked very striking even with his eyes being covered with flowers and a single bubble.
Also, wow, Sungmin looked gorgeous. I guess that since Heechul’s still inactive, their stylists have no one to dress up and apply feminine touches on anymore, so they settled on Minnie. But during performances on music shows, he looks hot with his messy blonde hair and occasional guyliner. I especially liked this look on him though:
Speaking of blonde hair, I love all of their hairstyles and hair colors right now. You guys won’t believe how glad I was when I found out Kyuhyun finally cut his hair. I mean, I love Kyu and all but I prefer him with shorter hair. Also, I’m glad Eunhyuk has finally settled on one hair color after the period of various hair-dying he went through a few months ago. Altogether, they all look gorgeous.
On a side note, sometimes, it’s hard for me to tell Sungmin and Shindong apart with them being both blonde and having almost the exact same bodies. Shindong’s lost a lot of weight now; it’s really noticeable.
Although…I don’t see much of a difference in Donghae and Siwon’s hair this time. But it’s just as well, they don’t usually change their hairstyles very often.
The one thing I was surprised at is the album cover. If they were going to make a cover like that, then they should have done it for Mr. Simple since the concept is supposed to be ‘simple’ and that’s exactly what 6jib’s cover is: simple. But after seeing Eunhyuk holding it during one of their SNL skits, I started thinking that it was kinda cool. When you hold it, it’s like you’re holding a book but really, you’re browsing through pictures of our Suju babies, their thank you messages and song lyrics. xD
3. Music Video
As usual, they’re dancing in boxes again. But my mother had enlightened me on this subject my reminding me that it’s easier (and probably cheaper) to use their own sets instead of filming outdoors. It’s easier to control the lighting, the sound, etc. And besides, I like how they decorated the boxes differently this time.
The outfits are definitely sexy. And the dance seems more complicated compared to ‘Mr. Simple’. They must get a real work-out just by dancing the whole song.
There is one thing that bugs me though. I always get really annoyed whenever that ad at the bottom of the video pops up. SM’s been doing that in all of their videos lately. I guess we’ll just have to put up with it.
Oh, and I just have to say that I love that bit where they all walk towards the center in slow motion and then stand in one straight line, posing coolly. If these guys are trying to kill me with their sexiness, then they’ve already succeeded a million times.
I love how another song composed by Eunhyuk is included in the album. Although ‘Gulliver’ took a little getting used to at first (whenever they chant ‘Gulliver’, I feel like I’m in some sort of tribal war), I can’t get enough of it now. But I do wish EunHae’s song ‘Oh No’ was included. I was looking forward to hearing a clearer audio version of it ever since they performed it at SS4 Tokyo.
And I’m thrilled that Kangin is finally back after three whole years. I can still recognize his voice after all this time. The one thing that makes me sad is the fact that this is Leeteuk’s last album before he goes to the army.
Like everyone else, I mistook the lyrics for ‘Sexy, Free and Single and ready to mingle’. The real lyrics don’t seem to make sense at first but I’ve come to understand it. Let me explain my theory on this.
‘Sexy, Free and Single I’m ready too bingo’. By saying this, they’re saying that not only are they sexy, free and single, but they’re also ready. And ‘bingo’ in this context doesn’t refer to the game; it means ‘good!’ or ‘daebak!’. So it’s just like this: ‘Sexy, free and single, I’m ready too. Bingo!’
And I’m not even offended by the slight mispronunciation of some lyrics in some songs. For example, Yesung pronouncing ‘rockstar’, ‘lockstar’ and him saying ‘face’ instead of ‘fail’. In fact, I find it adorable. Also, who can resist Kyuhyun’s, ‘`Cuz I’m a rocksterrrr’?
So all in all:
During Suju's appearance last year on Dream Team, when they were shooting the whole episode, they weren’t in a very good mood.
They were involved in a fight right after/before winning the Mutizen on Inkigayo. This was Eunhyuk then:
I thought something was off. They had just won yet Eunhyuk looked upset and the other members stayed at a distance from him. I just assumed that this was when Heechul had told them he was enlisting soon. I stand corrected.
They didn’t talk on the way to the set of Dream Team and they didn’t want people to know that they were in the middle of the fight so they covered it up during filming.
They had a plan which consisted of Sungmin & Yesung starting things off, Leeteuk & Shindong bringing laughs to everyone and Eunhyuk & Donghae would finish things off. Unfortunately for them, things didn’t go as well as planned and Sungmin, Yesung and Shindong were all out. They said it was because they were unfocused (because of the fight) and they were lacking teamwork. They then had to abandon their plan and Leeteuk actually finished the race instead of making a fool of himself to be funny.
But they gradually reconciled as they reached the end. They found themselves cheering on Eunhyuk as he finished the race (and in record time, too!). Afterwards, Eunhyuk gave a winning speech where he said how important the members were.
There’s not much we know for sure but Eunhyuk and Leeteuk did confirm that they were involved in the fight. I don’t know if it’s just the two of them who had the spat or if other members were involved. Anyhow, they’re alright now.
Also, they admitted that they’ve gotten into fist fights and have even flipped the dining table while they were eating.
My bet’s on Heechul/Kangin/Leeteuk for flipping the table.
